BNY Mellon IM's Retail Distro Now Falls Under This Exec

News summary by MFWire's editors

The new co-chiefs of distribution at BNY Mellon Investment Management [profile] just transformed their global leadership team.

Curtis Arledge
BNY Mellon
Vice Chairman, Chief Executive Officer of Investment Management
A spokesman for the giant bank's asset management arm confirms that New York-based Paul Sari, formerly head of North American strategic accounts, now serves as co-head of global strategic accounts and oversees BNY Mellon IM's retail distribution efforts on this side of the pond. A still to-be-named international-focused executive will serve as co-head of global strategic accounts alongside Sari.

In June Curtis Arledge, vice chairman of all of BNY Mellon and CEO of BNY Mellon IM, confirmed the appointment of New York-based Kim Mustin and London-based Matt Oomen as co-heads of distribution for BNY Mellon IM. Now Mustin and Oomen are streamlining their leadership team with what the spokesman describes as a "new global operating model for distribution," distinct from BNY Mellon IM's old "regional operating model."

"The new structure will ensure BNY Mellon Investment Management continues to deliver the full range of investment capabilities and solutions from our specialist investment boutiques in the most consistent fashion to the clients and intermediaries we serve across the world," the spokesman tells MFWire in an emailed statement.

Sari's not the only one with a new job thanks to the changes. Boston-based John Herlihy, formerly global chief operating officer and head of global partnered solutions, now serves as global head of institutional.

New York-based Michael Gordon, formerly head of retirement, insurance and strategic solutions for North America, now serves as global head of insurance solutions.

New York-based Cheryl Pipia [profile], formerly head of North American client engagement and business development, now serves as co-head of global client engagement. A not-yet-hired London-based executive will serve as co-head of global client engagement alongside Pipia.

Boston-based Joe Gennaco, formerly president and COO of BNY Mellon IM boutique the Boston Company, now serves as global head of boutique relations and consultant coordination.

New York-based Jake Walker, formerly COO of North America distribution, is now COO of global distribution.

Boston-based Jeff Soltes will continue to serve as chief financial officer of global distribution.

Sari is an alumnus of Cornell and the Citadel. Prior to joining BNY Mellon in 2011 he worked for J.P. Morgan, BofA, Mellon, and the U.S. Army.

Herlihy is an alum of St. Lawrence University. He worked at AT&T before joining BNY Mellon in 2005.

Gordon is a Colgate alum. He worked at J.P. Morgan, New York Life, and Longbridge before joining BNY Mellon in 2013.

Pipia is an alum of Lynchburg College. She worked at Legg Mason and OpFunds before joining BNY Mellon last year.

Gennaco is an alum of St. Anselm College. He worked at Putnam before joining the Boston Company in 2005.

Walker is an alum of Trinity University. He worked at Casey Quirk, Morgan Stanley, and City National Rochdale before joining BNY Mellon in 2013.

Soltes is an alumnus of Bentley. He worked at EMC and Data General before joining BNY Mellon in 1998.

BNY Mellon IM now has $1.724 trillion in AUM, including $454 billion in 164 mutual funds, making it the seventh largest asset manager in the world and the 13th largest mutual fund shop. It has 13 boutiques and has operations in 28 cities across 19 countries on five continents.
