An M&A Shop Hires a New York Life Alum

A financial services-focused M&A shop just named a new managing director. Today New York City-based Silver Lane revealed the hiring of Edward Higham as managing director.

An alum of Chase Manhattan, PaineWebber and Prudential, Higham most recently served as vice president in corporate development and M&A at MainStay Funds parent New York Life.

Silver Lane Appoints Edward Higham as Managing Director

New York, NY, March 19, 2013 — Silver Lane, a premier M&A advisor to the financial services industry, today announced the appointment of Edward Higham as Managing Director.

“Ed has more than 25 years of mergers and acquisitions experience as a Fortune 100 strategic corporate buyer, seller and investment banker,” said Elizabeth Nesvold, Silver Lane’s Managing Partner. “We are thrilled to welcome to our team such a seasoned professional with considerable expertise in financial services M&A.”

Before joining Silver Lane, Ed was a Vice President in Corporate Development and M&A at New York Life Insurance Company, leading strategic acquisitions and divestitures of asset management and insurance companies in the Americas and Asia. He previously was a Senior Vice President in Corporate M&A at Prudential Financial, where he helped drive international growth through acquisitions of insurance, asset and wealth management, brokerage and private banking businesses worldwide.

Ed started his career as an investment banker at PaineWebber, The Chase Manhattan Bank and Socimer International. He holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BA from Colby College. He has lived in England, Argentina, Peru and Venezuela, and speaks Spanish and French fluently.
