Jeff Cusack has left Forward Management [profile], the San Francisco alternatives shop where he was president and head of distribution. He has taken a new position as head of RIA sales and retail alternatives distribution with Nuveen Investments [profile].

The change was confirmed by a Forward spokesman. Cusack had been with the company since 2008.

The Forward spokesman said that the company is currently searching for a new head of distribution. In the interim, Clay Smudsky, the head of Forward's institutional business, will have overall responsibility for Cusack's former role. Forward CEO Alan Reid will work more closely with the sales team until the search for Cusack's replacement is completed.

Cusack is now Nuveen's national RIA sales manager and head of retail distribution for alternatives. He oversees about ten people and reports to Nuveen distribution head Carl Katerndahl, who works out of Los Angeles.

A Nuveen spokeswoman told MFWire that this is a new position with the firm.
