Pimco's [see profile] emerging markets equity team with five new hires. Today the Newport Beach, California-based mutual fund firm and
Allianz subsidiary revealed the addition of:
Richard Flax as senior vice president and emerging markets analyst, based in London;
Raymond Goh as equity trader, based in Singapore;
John Longhurts as SVP and head of emerging markets equity research, also in London;
Andrew Pyne, SVP and emerging markets equity product manager, based in New York; and
Laura Schlockman, equity product manager, also in New York.
Flax and Pyne both hail from
Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where Flax served as executive director of equity research and co-chair of the emerging market investment committee, while Pyne served as a managing director and client PM. Goh hails from
Capstone Investment Advisors where he was a trader. Longhurst most recently served as a partner and global analyst at
Capital Group's Capital International Research. And
Schlockman was an equity product manager at
OppenheimerFunds.

Richard Flax
Mr. Flax is a Senior Vice President and Emerging Markets Equity Analyst, based in the London office. Previously he was Executive Director of Equity Research for Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he also served as Co-Chair of the Emerging Market Investment Committee. Prior to that he was an analyst with Fleming Investment Management. Earlier in his career, Mr. Flax was an Economist, Latin America Research with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. He earned his MBA from Columbia Business School and a Masters in International Economics and American Foreign Policy from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). He earned his BA from Cambridge University.
Raymond Goh
Mr. Goh is an Equity Trader, based in the Singapore office. Prior to joining PIMCO he was a Trader with Capstone Investment Advisors. He earned his BS from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and is fluent in English and Mandarin.
John Longhurst
Mr. Longhurst is a Senior Vice President and Head of Emerging Markets Equity Research, based in the London office. Prior to joining PIMCO, he was a Partner (senior shareholder) and Global Analyst with Capital International Research (part of the Capital Group), where he worked since 1996. Earlier in his career, Mr. Longhurst was an automotive and machinery analyst at UBS and James Capel where he was ranked No 1 in sell-side analyst surveys.
Andrew Pyne
Mr. Pyne is a Senior Vice President and Emerging Markets Equity Product Manager, based in the New York office. Prior to joining PIMCO he was a Managing Director and Client Portfolio Manager with Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Previously he was with Van Kampen Investments. Mr. Pyne earned his BA from Wheaton College.
Laura Schlockman
Ms. Schlockman is an Equity Product Manager, based in the New York office. Prior to joining PIMCO she was an Equity Product Manager with Oppenheimer Funds. Previously, she was with Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Ms. Schlockman earned her BS from the Kogod School of Business at American University.
