Dreyfus this week launched the Dynamics Alternatives Fund, which pursues a hedge fund beta replication strategy. Dreyfus chairman and CEO Jon Baum briefly mentioned the launch at a press briefing Tuesday at the Intercontinental Hotel in midtown Manhattan.

The Dreyfus/BNY Mellon Asset Management media briefing, dubbed 2010: Investment Symposium: A World of Opportunity, drew 26 journalists.

Besides Baum, other speakers at the event included Brian Ferguson, senior managing director at The Boston Company Asset Management; Rodger Nisbet, deputy chairman of Walter Scott & Partners Limited; Jonathan Xiong, global investment strategist at Mellon Capital Management Corporation Tom Fahey, global macro strategist at Standish Mellon, Todd Briddell chief investment officer at Urdang and Richard Hoey, chief economist at BNY Mellon.
