Janus Capital Group's stock was the best-performing asset management stock in the January-November period, The Wall Street Journal reported. There has been an boost in performance in the Denver fund firm's U.S. stock funds, and its stock was assigned several new buy ratings by analysts. According to the report, Janus has benefited from chatter that it may be taken private, just like Nuveen Investments, which sported a similar market cap and was acquired by a group of investors led by Madison Dearborn Partners in a deal that closed last month. Meanwhile, the investment management firm with the worst share-price performance worldwide in the January-November period is New UK-based New Star Asset Management, which saw its stock go down sharply after it announced net outflows of $589 million in September from its Dublin investment firm.
