Shareholder.com is introducing Pinpoint, a new targeting tool designed for those executives in charge of investor relations (whether it is an investor relations officer or cfo), a spokesperson with the firm told the MutualFundWire.com. These executives can utilize the tool to identify and communicate with institutional investors and fund managers.

"Pinpoint is a database that we update continually. It keeps track of institutional investors and fund managers, who they are, what their interests are, and what they cover," the spokesperson reported. "It lets you know who else is out there, who covers your sector. It tells you who is on the buy side and who is on the sell side. There are bios of portfolio managers, for instance, and Pinpoint enables you to make contact with them."

The firm contends that there is information on 40,000 buy-side and 12,000 sell-side analysts from 8,000 global organizations in the database.

The system offers the following features:

• Institutional Investor Search: This area has intelligence information on investment firms and buy-side contacts. Content can be searched by company name or individual.
• Company and Peer Tracking: This module details information specific to the company. Entering the ticker symbol will deliver information like which mutual funds and institutional investors hold that company's stock.
• Sell-Side Search: This delivers contact data on firms that publish research to financial companies and investors. Contact data can be sorted by industry or organization.
• Additional Filters: These can be used to for more focused searches for such criteria as geography, hedge and mutual funds, industry and investor attributes.
