In Jersey, Dallmer Finds DFA's Next C-Suiter

Reported by Neil Anderson, Managing Editor

Lisa Dallmer has named Dimensional Fund Advisors' (DFA's) [profile] next C-suiter and is bringing him to Texas.

Bernard "Bernie" James Grzelak
Dimensional Fund Advisors
Incoming Chief Financial Officer
Yesterday Dallmer, chief operating officer of DFA, confirmed that, on September 14, Bernie Grzelak will join the Austin-based mutual fund firm as chief financial officer. Grzelak will report to Dallmer, who had been handling the CFO job since the last CFO, Greg Hinkle, retired earlier this year.

Grzelak hails from Jersey City, New Jersey-based Lord Abbett, where he spent more than 17 years. Most recently, he served as partner and chief operating officer of global funds and risk, and CFO for Lord Abbett Funds.

For his new role at DFA, Grzelak will be based in Austin. Dallmer describes the hiring of Grzelak as helping the firm "be in an even strong position to develop and extend [its] growing range of investment solutions and client services."

Grzelak, an alumnus of Notre Dame, first joined Lord Abbett in 2003, working in fund administration and as treasurer of the Lord Abbett Funds. He became a partner in 2008, rose to chief operations officer in 2016, and gained his most recent position in 2018.

Before joining Lord Abbett, Grzelak worked in fund administration at Lazard and served as a manager at Deloitte.

Hinkle, an alumnus twice over of Rice University, joined DFA in 2015 as vice president and controller, then rose to CFO in 2016. Before that, he served as treasurer of T. Rowe's funds and as a partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
