Senator Daniel K. Akaka's (D. Hawaii) mutual fund bill is receiving broad support and may be on a fast track through the Senate. The Mutual Fund Transparency Act has received the backing of a number of consumer protection groups, including Investor Protection, the Consumer Federation of America, Fund Democracy, Consumer Action, the US Public Interest Research Group, and Consumers Union.

The Senate is set to adjourn for the holidays in early December.
