The New York Attorney General’s Office and the SEC are investigating two former Prudential brokers for mutual fund trading irregularities according to the New York Times.
One of the brokers being investigated is
Frederick J O’Meally who was hired by Prudential in 1994. He was also one of a dozen brokers and managers fired last month from the company’s Garden City, Boston and New York offices for their roles in improper fund trading.
A source told the Times that regulators are investigating whether O’Meally performed late trades on behalf of a number of clients including
Steven B. Markowitz, a former hedge fund trader who pleaded guilty earlier this month to a criminal charges related to late trading.
Markowitz has been cooperating with the Spitzer’s investigation as part of his plea; he has also reached a settlement with the SEC.
