This week mutual fund and retirement industry insiders are trekking across one of the Hawaiian islands, while more than 1,000 fintech folk are gathering in New York City.

Yesterday TD Ameritrade Trust Company president Skip Schweiss and Tiburon Strategic Advisors managing partner kicked off the sixth annual Skip & Chip's Excellent Adventure. This time industry executives are hiking in and out on the Kalalau Trail on Kauai, then kayaking along the Napali Coast (also on Kauai). The idea behind the outings, as pitched by Roame, is to combine "a challenging outdoor adventure with a fun weekend together."

Tomorrow the SourceMedia events team will kick off their third annual In|Vest financial technology and innovation conference, at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square. More than 1,000 executives are expected at the two-day event.
