For fundsters whose companies are, or aspire to be, publicly-traded, there's another analyst who will paying attention to you.

On Sunday Goldman Sachs' equities research division initiated coverage of traditional asset managers. Vice president Alex Blostein is the lead analyst covering the space: analysts Jonathan Dane, Grayson Barnard, HoLum Kwok, and Sheriq Sumar are also listed on the note Blostein just released.

A spokeswoman for Goldman confirms that the investment bank suspended its asset manager coverage in February when Blostein's predecessor as lead asset management analyst left Goldman.

An alumnus of Brandeis, Blostein worked at Thomson Financial, Deloitte, and then Wachovia (now part of Wells Fargo) before joining Goldman more than seven years ago. In addition to asset managers, he continues to cover capital markets and exchanges.

Mutual fund shops covered by Blostein include: AB, AMG, Artisan, BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, Invesco, Janus, T. Rowe Price, Virtus, and WisdomTree.
