Alan Reid & co. at Forward Management on Wednesday took the wraps off the Forward Commodity Long/Short Strategy Fund. [SEC filing]

The product is only the third pure commodity fund to date that utilizes a long/short strategy, say company officials.

The Forward Commodity Long/Short Strategy Fund comes in investor and institutional share classes and is available through Charles Schwab, LPL, Matrix Clearing, National Financial, and Pershing.

This is the second alternative mutual fund Forward has brought to market this year. Last month, the firm launched the Forward Tactical Enhanced Fund.

Forward now has a total of ten mutual funds in its alternative fund lineup.
