The "Mutual Funds Against Cancer" awards honored American Century founder Jim Stowers Jr. with its Lifetime Achievement award last night. The honor is part of the 17th annual "Mutual Fund Industry Awards" program in New York. American Century's hometown paper, the Kansas City Star, picked up the story.

Stowers and his wife founded the Stowers Institute for Medical Research in Kansas City, Missouri. American Century also received the "Company for a Cure" award, recognizing the firm for its "American Century Championship" initiative spread the word of the "Livestrong Global Summit."
