State Street Research & Management Company has named George H. Crane III as senior vice president of investment administration and operations. He will oversee the company's central operations, which handles the back-office services for investment transactions.

Crane reports to Mary Ruth Moran, executive vice president and director of information systems and investment administration and operations. Before making this move, Crane served at Putnam Investments for 15 years. His last position there was as vice presdent and director of custody.

"George's solid experience in developing and managing investment operations will add tremendous value to State Street Research," stated Moran. "We are deeply committed to providing accurate and highly responsive investment operations to our clients, and I am confident that his leadership will help guide us in meeting this objective."
