kasina Hires a Marketing Guru

News summary by MFWire's editors

William Scheckel just joined kasina as director of marketing. Previously, Scheckel was global chief marketing officer at SAP, a software provider. kasina began a hiring push in June of this year; Steven Miyao, chief executive officer of kasina, told the MFWire then that the firm was looking to add five more new faces by year's end.

William Scheckel has joined kasina as Director of Marketing, it was announced today. Scheckel comes to the firm from SAP, the world’s largest business software provider, where he was chief of staff in the office of the Global Chief Marketing Officer. At kasina, he will focus on continuing to build the firm’s brand and growing the overall business.

Like many kasina consultants, Scheckel brings an eclectic background to the firm. He has held marketing and consulting positions with a wide range of organizations including a global software provider (SAP); a founder of modern public opinion polling (Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann); and the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division on Civil Rights. Having lived in Germany for 10 years, he is a fluent German speaker and started and ran his own marketing and communications agency in that country, serving a variety of Fortune 500 clients including HSBC, Deutsche Bank, and IBM, as well as the Office of His Royal Majesty King Carl Gustav XVI of Sweden.

“Will’s unorthodox background demonstrates the kind of qualities we look for at kasina: strong intellectual curiosity and a range of experience that enables him to see old problems in new ways,” said Steven Miyao, chief executive officer, at kasina. “We look forward to his insights as we continue to build the firm.”

“With 18 of the 20 largest asset management firms as clients, kasina is clearly well-known in the industry,” said Scheckel. “However, there is room for growth in the recognition of the full range of expertise offered by kasina consultants. My job is to increase awareness of the scope of the firm’s capabilities while reinforcing the unique attributes of the kasina brand.”

Scheckel is a 1992 graduate of The University of Chicago, where he received a B.A. in History. He holds an MA in Sociology at Germany’s Universität Konstanz.
