Matt Witkos has left Ixis Asset Management, where he was executive vice president and head of distribution for the company.

Witkos will become president of Eaton Vance Distributors effective May 29. That position was formerly held by Wharton Whitaker, who passed away in February.

An industry insider told The MFWire the departure of Witkos may have had an impact on Ixis' withdrawal of its bid to buy Rydex. Ixis would have needed a strong player in the distribution department to assimilate the company.

Replacing Witkos will be Peter Martin, who has been named executive vice president, head of distribution for the Americas, at Ixis.
