DeAM Hires New Fixed Income Director

Richard Smith joined Deutsche Asset Management's Enhanced Strategies and Mutual Funds group as a director of fixed income on August 2.

At DeAM, Smith will be responsible for non-insurance taxable fixed income institutional mandates and fixed income mutual funds.
Smith's position is new, said DeAM spokeswoman Rosalia Scampoli.

The Enhanced Strategies and Mutual Funds group is within the fixed income group at DeAM, and is responsible for institutional and retail fixed income funds at DeAM and Scudder Investments.

Smith will report to Sean McCaffrey, head of the Enhanced Strategies and Mutual Funds group in New York.

Smith left MFS Investment Management, where he worked for ten years in the company's fixed income group.

MFS spokesman John Reilly said Smith left approximately one year ago; he was replaced by William Douglas from Wellington Management.
