Wednesday, April 7, 2004 New COO at SSgA Peter Leahy, former manager of SSgA's Global Structured Products group, has been named SSgA’s Chief Operating Officer. The position was created in response to growing assets and growing challenges, said company spokeswoman Arlene Roberts. SSgA manages over $1 trillion in assets. Leahy will report to SSgA’s CEO and Chairman, Tim Harbert. Leahy will remain on the company's executive management team, and continue to serve as Vice-Chairman of the Investment Committee and Chairman of the Independent Fiduciary Committee. Leahy has worked at State Street since 1991, and managed the Global Structured Products group since 1996. Senior Principal of Global Structured Products, Paul Brakke will take over Leahy's position as head of the group. The company is not looking to fill Brakke's position, said Roberts.
