More Events Get Pushed By Coronavirus Fears

The spread of the coronavirus continues to disrupt the asset management industry's events calendar for the spring.

Tiburon

Charles Roame
Tiburon Strategic Advisors
Managing Partner
Chip Roame, managing principal of Tiburon Strategic Advisors, confirms that the Tiburon CEO Summit XXVIII has been cancelled. The event had been scheduled for April 6-8 in New York City.

"I am voting for safety first," Roame wrote yesterday to attendees. "Furthermore, the combination of the world coronavirus health scare, plus the plunging stock market, plus dozens of companies' travel bans, plus now yesterday's USA-Europe travel restriction (which overlaps with our dates), means we are now receiving many attendee and speaker cancelations."

Roame added that he and his team will try to move the speakers from the cancelled event to their planned upcoming summits in October 2020 and April 2021.

Envestnet

The Envestnet team has cancelled their Envestnet Advisor Summit, which was scheduled to begin on April 29 in Austin, Texas.

"We have been closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) for the past few weeks, hoping that things might take a turn for the better by the time April 29 rolls around. This does not appear to be likely," the Envestnet team posted. "The health and safety of our employees, clients, sponsors, partners, and all involved with the Advisor Summit remains our top priority."

AIMSE

The team at the Association of Investment Management Sales Executives (AIMSE) is postponing their 43rd annual meeting and sales conference to mid-November. The conference, previously scheduled to begin on May 3 in Boca Raton, Florida, will still be held at the Boca Raton Resort and Club.

Other Events

Stay tuned for updates on other spring conferences.

The team at Wilmington's FRA is scheduled to begin their 29th Sub-Advised Funds Forum on April 30 in New York City. An FRA staffer did not return calls for comment.

The 25th annual Sohn Investment Conference is scheduled for May 13 in New York City. A Sohn Conference Foundation spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.
