A T. Rowe Vet Takes Over a $42B Direct Channel

A T. Rowe Price veteran of more than seven years is taking over the direct retail channel for another big mutual fund firm.

Wayne Park
American Century
Head of Personal Financial Solutions
Today Joe Schultz, chief client officer at American Century, confirms that Wayne Park joined American Century on December 23. Park now serves as head of personal financial solutions and reports to Schulz. Like American Century itself, Park is now based in Kansas City, Missouri.

Park most recently served as head of individual investors at T. Rowe, after holding other distribution roles at the fund firm. Prior to that he worked with Vanguard, TD Waterhouse, and D.H. Blair. He is an alumnus of Penn State University and of Stony Brook University.

"We wish him well as he embarks on this next chapter of his career," Monique Bosco, a T. Rowe spokeswoman, tells MFWire. "On an interim basis, Dee Sawyer, head of Individual Investors & Retirement Plan Services, will take on direct responsibility for overseeing the Individual Investors business."

Park's move to American Century comes about a year after Jay Hummel, then-head of personal financial solutions, left the firm.

Schultz lauds Park for having "significant industry experience, deep technical capability and understanding of client needs."

"Wayne will play a critical role in the growth of our Personal Financial Solutions business as we enhance our client offering," Schultz states.
