Impact, Day 4 — a Treat For Cubs and Red Sox Fans

Yesterday at Schwab Impact 2017 in Chicago, Bernie Clark and Brad Losson (pinch-hitting for Jon Beatty) revealed the winners of the four 2017 Impact awards: ABG Retirement Plan Services for "best-in-retirement business", Gurtin Municipal Bond Management as a pacesett, Heritage Financial Services for "best-in-business", and MainStay Capital Management as a trailblazer. Then Joshua Cooper Ramo, vice chairman of Kissinger Associates, delivered a keynote speech called "the Seventh Sense."

After a full day of breakout sessions, thousands of Impact 2017 attendees went through security screening (especially those who didn't leave their bags in their rooms) to see former UK prime minister David Cameron deliver a keynote address and then engage in a Q&A with Schwab strategist Jeffrey Kleintop. One tidbit Cameron shared is that he comes from a long line of stockbrokers and that his father was very disappointed when he decided to go into politics instead. Perhaps Cameron should be running for office on this side of the pond; he received standing ovations.

For the big final party last night, themed "Chicago Social Club", R&B artist Leon Bridges performed.

Today is the final half-day of Impact 2017. After breakfast, breakout sessions, and brunch, attendees will hear from the conference's final keynote speaker: Theo Epstein, the former Red Sox bigwig who now serves as president of baseball operations for the Chicago Cubs. Then Impact attendees will grab their boxed lunches and disperse.
