State Street Research Hires Fixed Income Head


Brett H. Wander is onboard at State Street Research & Management Company as the asset manager's new head for its Market Based Strategies Group for Fixed Income. The 41-year-old reports to Mark Marinella, chief investment officer for fixed income. State Street Research officials said that the position is newly created.

Wander will lead a five-person team of portfolio managers and analysts in creating and implementing the portfolio strategy for nearly $15 billion of fixed income assets under management. The group's investment strategies include Core, Core Plus, Intermediate Duration and Short Duration, according to State Street Research.

Before joining the MetLife affiliate, Wander spent more than 16 years in the industry and was most recently chief investment strategist for Analytic Investors in California. Before that he was a senior vice president for Los Angeles-based Payden & Rygel. He also served as a senior portfolio manager for Mellon Capital Management, Treasury Manager at Genentech, Inc. and was an investment associate for Golden West Financial.
