This Trio of Third Avenue Vets Will Return to the MF Biz

A 17-year veteran of Third Avenue is returning to the mutual fund business to build a wall out of international value stocks.

Research analyst and Co-founder
Leslie Norton of Barron's reports that Amit Wadhwaney, Michael Campagna, and John Mauro of Moerus Capital aim to debut their first mutual fund later this year. The trio of Third Avenue alumni started Moerus in New York in the fall of 2015, and their hedge fund will open in summer 2016.

Wadhwaney, PM and co-founding partner at Moerus, spent nearly 18 years at Third Avenue before moving on in 2014; Mauro, research analyst and co-founding partner at Moerus, spent almost a decade at Third Avenue; and Campagna, research analyst and co-founding partner at Moerus, spent seven years at Third Avenue.

The Barron's piece offers a bit of insight into Wadhwaney's background (India-born, Canada-raised, UChicago-educated) and into the origination of Moerus (the word means "wall" in Latin). The bulk of the piece digs into Wadhwaney's investing style and picks.
