Effective January 19, the Vanguard folks removed Boston-based Century Capital [profile] from the list of subadvisors powering the three-star, neutral-rated Vanguard Explorer Fund. Per Morningstar, Century managing partner and PM Alexander "Lanny" Thorndike had PMed part of the fund for the past seven and a half years.

MFWire could not immediately reach Thorndike himself or a Vanguard spokesperson for comment on the change.

The fund still has six remaining subadvisors (plus Vanguard itself managing a slice) and 15 PMs. The remaining subadvisors are: Arrowpoint Partners, Chartwell, Granahan, Kalmar, SIMG, and Wellington. The remaining PMs are: Chad Meade and Brian Schaub of Arrowpoint; John Heffern of Chartwell; Gary Hatton, Jennifer Pawloski, John Schneider, and Jane White of Granahan; Ford Draper and Dana Walker of Kalmar; Ryan Crane of SIMG; Kenneth Abrams and Daniel Fitzpatrick of Wellington; and Michael Roach, James Stetler, and James Troyer of Vanguard.
