A Co-PM on a $9.3B Mid Cap Fund Is Retiring

A co-PM for a $9.3-billion mid cap value mutual fund is about to retire.

In an SEC filing on Friday, Goldman Sachs [profile] confirms that managing director Dolores Bamford will retire on September 1 after 13 years co-PMing the now $9.3-billion, four-star Goldman Sachs Mid Cap Value Fund. Vice president Sung Cho, an 11-year Goldman veteran, will join the PM team for the fund, alongside current co-PMs Sean Gallagher (managing director and chief investment officer of value equity), Andrew Braun (managing director), and Timothy Ryan (Vice President).

A spokeswoman for Goldman confirms that Bamford will be going to the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary to pursue a Master of Divinity degree. Bamford spent 14 years at Goldman, and in addition to co-PMing the Mid Cap Value Fund, she also did energy research supporting the Mid Cap Value, Small Cap Value, and SMID strategies.

Like Cho, Ryan is new to the fund's co-PM list this year. Braun and Gallagher, on the other hand, have each co-PMed the fund since 2001. Next month the fund will reach its 20th birthday.
