3, 2, 1 ... IMPACT Empowered!

Thousands of advisors, fundsters, Charles Schwab team members, journalists and others are converging on Denver this week.

Yesterday the discount brokerage giant's IMPACT 2014 conference for the RIAs its serves began at the Colorado Convention Center. On the IMPACT website Schwab claims that 1,700 advisors, 300 exhibitors, 250 Schwab employees, plus other execs and journalists will be there. Word at the conference is upwards of 4,000 people could be in attendance.

The theme of this year's IMPACT is Empowered (not to be confused with the freshly re-branded retirement plan provider based in Denver).

Featured speakers this year include: former Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, DonorsChoose.org founder and CEO Charles Best, Duke University senior fellow Dan Heath, economist Dambisa Moyo, Schwab chief investment strategist Liz Ann Sonders and Potomac Research Group chief political strategist Greg Valliere. Tomorrow afternoon Schwab's own Bernie Clark, executive vice president of advisor services, will bring former U.S. President George W. Bush on stage for an interview.

The conference is scheduled to end at lunch on Friday.
