Despite Franklin's Pain, Barron's Likes What It Sees


It's been a rough couple of months for bonds and emerging markets, and the fundsters whose vehicles invest in those assets. Yet Barron's is still smiling on just such a mutual fund shop: Franklin Templeton [profile] parent Franklin Resources.

On Saturday the magazine's Jack Hough profiled the San Mateo, California-based asset manager. And Hough had good news for the Franklin team and others holding shares in the fund shop: he predicted that, after lagging the broader stock market over the past six months, Franklin's shares "could return 20% in the next year."
