T. Rowe's Kennedy Ponders Fleeing Baltimore

T. Rowe Price [profile] CEO James Kennedy is supposedly so worried about crime in downtown Baltimore that he is contemplating pulling up stakes and moving 1,271 fundsters away from Pratt Street. Or so reports The Baltimore Sun's Eileen Ambrose and Carrie Wells.

Baltimore has not exactly been known for its safety, but it sounds like dangers are hitting close to home for Kennedy. There have been reports of employees being harassed in the neighborhood — one vendor was mugged outside his downtown hotel.

"We told the mayor safety is a big issue," Kennedy is reported to have said. "We want to make sure our people feel safe walking the streets of Baltimore."

T. Rowe's chief executive James Kennedy said he is exploring options, such as moving its headquarters to Harbor East or Harbor Point or possibly Owings Mills. The company's lease expires in 2017.
