American Beacon Pulls Out a Board Chair for an Ex-Van Kampen CEO

Jerry Miller, a former president and chief executive of Van Kampen Investments and a 2009 nominee to MFWire's list of most influential executives, has been elected to the board of directors of American Beacon Advisors, Inc.[Profile] and Lighthouse Holdings, Inc..

Miller is currently chief executive of Sentio Advisors, a consulting firm he founded that provides strategic advice to investment management and private equity firms. In July, he signed on with Lightyear Capital as a senior advisor on behalf of affiliated funds.

He served as president and chief executive of Van Kampen Investments from 2008 through 2010. He left the firm when Morgan Stanley sold that business to Invesco in January 2010.

Prior to Van Kampen, Miller was a division director at Morgan Stanley's Global Wealth Management group and sat on its executive and operating committees.

Before that, Miller had a 22-year career at Merrill Lynch, holding a series of leadership roles, including serving as chief operating officer of the global proprietary business of Merrill Lynch Investment Management (MLIM) from 2002 to 2006, where he had primary responsibility for sales, marketing and key account coverage activities worldwide, and joint responsibility for the retail separate accounts group.
