Fidelity Unpacks in Jersey City

The nation's largest mutual fund advisor has taken office space across the river from Wall Street. Fidelity Investments [profile] opened a new regional office in Jersey City yesterday, reported the Hudson Reporter.

A 185,000 square-foot office in the Newport Office Centre will be Fidelity's new space. The report also states the firm has invested $30 million to outfit the new office that will accomodate 600 of Boston Behemoth's employees.

Fidelity officials said they chose Newport section because of the access to skilled workers and the amenities it provides.

"Fidelity has long been an important and contributing member of the New Jersey business community," said Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy. "Their decision to consolidate their workforce in Newport Centre speaks to our welcoming business climate, proximity to services, and ongoing willingness to partner with firms like Fidelity that power the state’s economic engine.”

A $5,000 donation to York Street project was made by Fidelity to celebrate their move to Newport Centre.
