Passive ETFs are Texas, Active ETFs are Rhode Island

A month ago State Street Global Advisors [profile] launched a trio of actively managed ETFs, and now Benzinga.com is taking an in-depth look at one of the them, the SPDR SSgA Global Allocation ETF.

The Benzinga.com piece also offers an interesting metaphor for the ETF business today:
If ETFs were states, traditional, passively managed long equity and bond ETFs would be Texas. Actively managed ETFs would be Rhode Island. ETF sponsors are trying to change that.
