PFPC Tries to Impress Europe

PFPC has exported its Impress workflow engine to the European fund market. The electronic document and document imaging platform was rolled out in Europe through Dublin-based PFPC International earlier this month, confrmed a spokesperson.

"We are making it available to two segments, U.S. mutual fund firms that are expanding into Europe and European firms," explained the spokesperson.

PFPC has some 110 fund complexes that currently use the Impress system, according to the company.

The Impress Desktop is installed in PFPC financial-services centers in both Dublin and County Wexford, Ireland. The platform collects data and documents from both brokers and shareholders from paper, email, fax and other communications.

Joan Kehoe, managing director, PFPC International, explained that the move overseas was made in response to demand from funds experiencing increased fund volume.

She said the service should appeal to fund firms feeling pressure to minimize costs, while keeping up high-quality communications.

"PFPC clients and their customers will directly benefit from an administrative service provider that is fully electronic and whose workflow processes promote productivity and the highest service standards. Increased electronic availability of critical customer information should also improve resource planning and productivity at both our own PFPC operations centers and our customer sites," she said.
