American Century, Janus, Oakmark and Vanguard Win S&P Gold


T. Rowe Price [see profile] and Vanguard [see profile] dominated the first winners list for a brand new awards program. This week Standard & Poor's Equity Research revealed the gold, silver and bronze medalists in ten categories for its brand new US Mutual Fund Excellence Awards Program (see the full list here).

S&P named the finalists for the award last month (see The MFWire, 10/7/2010).

Several fund firms won multiple medals for different funds. T. Rowe brought home three silver medals and two bronze; Vanguard won two golds, a silver and two bronze; Dodge & Cox [see profile] won two silver; Oakmark [see profile] won one gold and one bronze; American Century [see profile] won a gold and a silver; and Mairs & Power [see profile] won a gold and a silver.

The gold medalist funds were: Scout International Fund (international equity), Oakmark Global Fund (global equity), Jensen Portfolio (domestic large cap), Meridian Growth Fund (domestic mid cap), Janus Triton Fund (domestic small cap), Northern Global Sustainability Index Fund (global/domestic equity -- new and notable), Mairs & Power Growth Fund (domestic multi cap), American Century Government Bond Fund (taxable fixed income), Vanguard Tax-Managed Balanced Fund (blended individual securities) and Vanguard STAR Fund (blended fund of funds).
