Louise Kuo resigned Putnam Investments effective May 31 for personal reasons. She had served as director of corporate marketing for the Boston-based company since November 1998. In that position she was responsible for Putnam's $80 billion defined contribution, $200 billion retail fund and $100 billion defined benefit marketing efforts.

Thomas Lucey, head of mutual funds, to whom Kuo reported is taking on the marketing responsibilities on an interim basis, according to a spokesperson for the company. He added that the permanent situation for the position has not been decided.

Kuo originally joined Putnam from Prudential Investments.
