Tuesday, October 5, 1999 Badgley Funds Launches Into Cyberspace Badgley Funds has broadened its horizon into cyberspace, that is. The mutual fund company, Badgley, Phelps and Bell Inc. has launched a Web site to extend the reach of the Badgley Growth Fund and the Badgley Balanced Fund, which just opened in June 1998.
This particular site is dedicated only to the two no-load mutual funds, Tres Heald, president of the funds said. "The site was created to provide existing clients data and hopefully target and market to a new set of clientele who uses the Internet." Wilcher Group, in Redmond, Washington, created the site. Heald said that the fund company did take part in its creating but Wilcher was the backbone of the project. In the future, Badgley plans on targeting the institutional market. "In the second or third round of the site more information will be available to institutional investors with a focus on the registered advisors of the world." "The ultimate goal is to offer additional information for the pros," he said. "So they in turn can offer it to their clients." Some features that are in the works are online discussion capabilities with portfolio managers, information about conference calls and feedback on the sentiment of the market on behalf of the fund managers.
