First American Names Small-Mid Cap Director


First American Asset Management, a division of U.S. Bank, has named Martin Hurwitz managing director of the Small and Mid Cap Growth Equity management team. Hurwitz is overseeing the management of more than $700 million in assets in separately managed accounts and First American Funds.

    • Most recently, Hurwitz worked at American Express Financial Advisors where he managed small- and mid-cap growth portfolios. American Express was not able to verify the status of that position.

    Hurwitz will now be reporting directly to Jim Doak, senior managing director of equities. Sandra Shrewsbury formerly held the position, a spokesperson said. Her current place of employment is unknown to First American.

    "As the head of the team, he will be working with the equity groups verifying the appropriateness of the holdings and eventually direct the approach taken to develop the portfolios," the spokesperson said.
