Wednesday, February 10, 2010 Joe Mansueto Writes a Footnote Investment research firm Morningstar bought financial blog Footnoted.org Tuesday for an undisclosed price. Morningstar will change the site's name to Footnoted.com and will reprint footnoted articles on its own homepage, Morningstar.com. "Morningstar’s global reach and the resources that they’ve committed to growing footnoted will mean that more people will be exposed to footnoted’s unique content. Soon, I plan to hire additional staff, which will enable me to continue growing both the free and subscription-based businesses," footnoted founder Michelle Leder wrote Tuesday. Launched over six years ago, Footnoted specializes in finding stories about excessive pay and perks for executives by digging through SEC filings.
