"Mutual funds are a key component in our long-term investor growth strategy," Motusesky, who runs TD Ameritrade's fund supermarket, said in an interview with The MFWire.

On the RIA side, TD Ameritrade offers 14,600 funds and 5,600 NTF funds. On the retail side, it carries around 14,000 funds and 1,500 NTF funds.

Motusesky, who was recently promoted from senior product manager of mutual funds and ETFs, currently oversees two fund relationship managers. She plans to expand her team "within fiscal 2010." TD Ameritrade's fiscal year started October 1.

She also said an effort is underway to enhance TD's Premier List, a listing of up to 100 funds selected by Morningstar Associates and updated quarterly.

"We're in the midst of a product development initiative to make the Premier List more useful and actionable," she said. TD Ameritrade is planning a rollout for early next year.
