Company Press Release

ST. LOUIS - Scottrade, a leading branch-supported online investing firm, has expanded its mutual fund offering to more than 14,500 mutual funds.

Expanding its offering places Scottrade among the top mutual fund providers in the industry. Included are institutional share classes, load-waived funds and triple the number of no-transaction fee (NTF) funds previously available. In addition to mutual funds, Scottrade offers a robust selection of online investment products including IRAs, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), Coverdell Education Savings Accounts (ESAs), bonds, options, CDs and stocks.

“Scottrade customers now have extensive access to even more of the most popular mutual fund families, giving them greater choices as they make their own investment decisions,” said Steve Walkenbach, Scottrade’s executive director of business and product development. “This addition is also evidence of Scottrade’s commitment to providing complete mutual fund services to the growing registered investment advisor (RIA) community that we serve through Scottrade Advisor Services.”

Scottrade’s Individual Investors Have More Choices, Flexibility

Scottrade customers are now able to choose from one of the largest selections of mutual funds available, including those from the most popular fund families and nearly 3,000 no transaction fee funds. Scottrade also offers educational resources to help investors determine which fund is right for them.

The mutual fund resources are available online at www.scottrade.com. Scottrade’s mutual fund research includes a real-time mutual fund screener, customizable charts, detailed Lipper Leader Rating information and much more. These tools are designed to help customers search funds by availability and other criteria, such as whether a fund is on Scottrade’s no transaction fee platform, which contains funds that can be bought, sold or exchanged online at no charge.

Scottrade Advisor Services

Registered investment advisors (RIAs) who use Scottrade Advisor Services as their custodian now have access to a significantly larger selection of institutional class mutual funds and load-waived funds as a result of the expanded offering. Institutional funds are mutual funds that target pension funds, endowments and other high net worth entities and individuals. They usually have a lower operating costs and higher minimum investments than retail funds.

Education, Screening and Research

Scottrade’s education, screening and research materials help investors decide if a fund meets individual investing objectives. Customers who are looking for a particular fund can start their research by entering the name or symbol of a mutual fund to find information such as performance, news and earnings. The mutual fund screener enables customers to find mutual funds that fit specific investing criteria, including choosing from load funds, no load funds and no transaction fee funds.

“Scottrade’s expanded mutual fund offering – and the educational resources and research provided to support it – helps investors make informed decisions about including mutual funds in their portfolio,” Walkenbach said. “This is one of several enhancements we’ve worked hard to roll out to help investors quickly and easily find investment opportunities to help them reach their financial goals.”

Additional information is available at Scottrade’s online Knowledge Center. Complete educational articles, commentary and webcasts are available for customers to learn all about mutual funds, including fund types, strategies, calculating net asset value, fund fees, how to research and evaluate mutual funds, where to find a prospectus and mutual fund tax considerations.
