Vanguard Money Manager Gains New Roles

Vanguard Long-Term Tax Exempt Fund and High Yield Tax Exempt Fund both now report to a new master. An SEC filing revealed that one of Vanguard's own, Christopher Alwine, has taken over the municipal money market and municipal bond groups as principal.

A spokesperson for Vanguard could not immediately be reached for comment by the MFWire.

In Morningstar's Fund Times column, Ryan Leggio reports that Alwine succeeds former fund manager Reid Smith, who recently left Vanguard. According to Leggio, Alwine has been a part of Vanguard since 1992, and he has been manager of the high-yield fund and the long-term fund for around 14 years.
