Private Equity Firms Peek at Lehman Unit's Financials

The UK's Telegraph reports that up to five private equity firms --including Carlyle, KKR and JC Flowers-- have taken a look at the financials of b>Lehman Brothers' investment management unit. According to the pub, KKR is said to be the most interested party so far. Lehman's investment management arm includes Neuberger Berman and some private equity and hedge fund business lines.

Last week, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal both reported that the Lehman had sent out letters to test the level of interest in the unit. The pubs listed all three firms listed above in addition to Blackstone Group, Apollo Management, Hellman & Friedman LLC and General Atlantic LLC as recipients of the letters.
