WSJ Examines India-Focused ETFs

In Monday's Wall Street Journal Fund Track column, Smartmoney.com writer Will Swarts puts two recently launched India-focused ETFs under the microscope. Debuting amid a tough environment for emerging markets, the Wisdom Tree India Earnings ETF, which launched February 21, is down 8 percent, while the PowerShares India Portfolio ETF, which was unveiled March 5, is down 4.3 percent. However, as Swarts notes, India is poised to experience plenty of internally focused growth over the next several years.

Swarts spoke to Luciano Siracusano, director of research at WisdomTree, and also obtained views from Sharad Shroff, co-manager of the Matthews India Fund, and David Semple, who runs the Van Eck Emerging Market Fund, on investing in the subcontinent.
