BlackRock: Why Hedge When You Can Fund a Long-Short?


BlackRock is staying away from hedge funds, at least for now. Robert Doll Jr., chief investment officer for global equities, told the Wall Street Journal's Daisy Maxey that BlackRock's large cap team "struggled a lot with portfolio construction" (separate login required) for a possible hedge fund and that they're instead focusing on their soon-to-launch BlackRock Large Cap Core Plus Fund (and its 130/30 long-short strategy), unveiled early this month.
