A Cross-Border Market Entry Solutions Team Forms at State Street

Reported by Cat Felle

A five-person market entry solutions team celebrates their one year anniversary at State Street.

Boston-based Caroline Carmichael, global head of market entry solutions (MES), and Kailey Theriault, head of research for US, Canada, and Europe, are frequent travelers to New York City. MFWire was able to connect with the North American duo this month at an Irish Funds hosted event and a U.S. Roadshow hosted by the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI).

Matthew Adams, global head of market entry solutions, and Laura Bruno, assistant vice president and head of research for Latin America and Europe, are Carmichael's and Theriault's London-based counterparts respectively.

Hong Kong-based Karen Liu, head of research in Asia Pacific, is the fifth and final member of the small, but mighty MES team.

The formation of the market entry solutions team was in response to State Street client demand, Carmichael shares with MFWire. The MES team compiles data from than 400 sources and provides additional context from more than 100 specialists, then delivers the information to existing clients in the form of playbooks.

Existing clients of State Street considering global expansion have access to playbooks on markets of domicile, markets of distribution, or special topics.

The market entry solutions team identifies Dublin, Luxembourg, and Cayman Islands as markets of domicile. Markets of distribution consist of nearly 40 other international marketplaces. Special topics in the past have been Brexit and Asia Passporting.

For the time being, State Street clients are able to request customized market profiles in terms of size, market growth, and cash flow based on investor appetite and product sales for no added cost, according to Carmichael.
