A DC Trade Group Tries to "Save the 401k"

News summary by MFWire's editors

If you do any work in the defined contribution space, you've probably heard that some in Washington might want to eliminate the retirement tax deduction.

Obviously, those in the industry aren't happy about that prospect.

In response, the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) has launched a new website for the "Save My 401k" campaign.

The new campaign is getting some serious coverage in the press. It's seen ink and pixels in Reuters, CNBC, The National Journal, and the Wall Street Journal.

The story was also covered yesterday on our sister publication 401kWire.

ASPPA chief Brian Graff was particularly excited with two aspects of the site — a Youtube video and a video game called "Protect My Piggy."

In the game, you control a pig chasing coins around a map of Washington, D.C. Democratic donkeys and Republican elephants begin to chase you. If you get caught, you lose.

The point of the site is to "make the members of Congress understand that their retirement security is at stake," Graff said.
