Polk Discovers a New Strategy for Rainier

Rainier Investment Management [profile] has a new international, small-cap equity mutual fund. Yesterday CEO Kurt Polk unveiled the Seattle-based mutual fund shop's new International Discovery Fund, which officially debuted on March 28.

The new mutual fund is PMed by senior portfolio analyst Greg Ise, international investments chief Henrik Strabo and portfolio analyst Derrick Tzau. It is also available in collective trust and separate account form.

"The launch of this strategy is the culmination of a three-year effort to identify an experienced international team," Polk stated.

Strabo joined Rainier last year.

Rainier Investment Management Launches International Small Cap Equity Strategy

SEATTLE, May 10, 2012 -- Rainier Investment Management, Inc, adviser to the Rainier Funds, has launched the International Discovery Fund (RAIIX) as of March 28, 2012. While managed by a distinct team, this new, international, small-cap equity strategy is an extension of Rainier's growth approach. The team is comprised of Henrik Strabo, Head of International Investments, Greg Ise, Senior Portfolio Analyst and Derrick Tzau, Portfolio Analyst. Clients can invest via separate account, collective trust and mutual fund vehicles.

Strabo joined Rainier in 2011 after a successful career at American Century and Clay Finlay. At American Century, he co-managed the American Century International Discovery Fund and in 1999 was promoted to Chief Investment Officer (International Equities). While CIO, he was responsible for multiple investment teams and developed their growth-oriented investment www.rainierfunds.com Seattle/New York process. More recently Strabo was CIO and portfolio manager for global boutique Clay Finlay and then a managing director at Rogge Capital Management (Austin, TX). Strabo was born and raised in Denmark and educated at the University of Washington in Seattle.
