Ryan, Beck & Co. has hired Joseph V. Battipaglia as executive vice president and chief investment officer. He will be the firm's chief investment strategist and spokesperson on investment policy. He will maintain offices in the firm's Livingston, New Jersey headquarters and the branch office located in Yardley, Pennsylvania.

Battipaglia is the former chairman of investment policy at Gruntal & Co. Prior to joining Gruntal in 1984, he was a financial analyst for the Exxon Corporation and a securities generalist at Elkins & Co., a division of Prudential Bache.
