Fidelity Adds Three Advisor Funds

News summary by MFWire's editors

Fidelity Investments has launched three new Fidelity Advisor funds. Steve Buller will manage the Fidelity Advisor International Real Estate Fund, Maxime Lemieux will manage the Fidelity Advisor Canada Fund, and Richard Thompson is the manager of the Fidelity Advisor Small Cap Independence Fund.

Fidelity Investments today announced the availability of three new Fidelity Advisor funds -- Fidelity Advisor International Real Estate, Fidelity Advisor Canada, and Fidelity Advisor Small Cap Independence funds -- providing financial advisors and their clients with greater diversification across asset classes and geographical areas.

Class A, T, B, C and Institutional shares will be offered through advisors at institutions such as brokerage firms, banks, and insurance companies. With the addition of these three funds, Fidelity now offers advisors and their clients access to a family of 99 Advisor funds. “Creating a well-diversified portfolio for clients is the primary goal of any successful financial advisor,” said Martha B. Willis, executive vice president, Fidelity Investments Institutional Services Company. “By investing in a range of asset classes and geographical areas, advisors can add significant value to a client’s portfolio by mitigating risk through diversification and focusing on long-term investment objectives.

“The addition of these three funds is another example of our commitment to providing advisors access to the vast investment management resources of Fidelity and to offering a broad and varied product line-up that can help advisors meet the unique investment needs of their clients,” continued Willis.

Fidelity Advisor International Real Estate Fund Fidelity Advisor International Real Estate Fund seeks capital appreciation and will invest primarily in non-U.S. securities, with at least 80% of fund assets in securities of companies principally engaged in the real estate industry and other real estate related investments. The fund will allocate investments across different countries and regions relative to the size of the international real estate securities market as a whole. Its benchmark is the MSCI EAFE Index and the performance benchmark (supplemental benchmark) is the EPRA/NAREIT Index.1 Steve Buller manages the Fidelity Advisor International Real Estate Fund. Buller joined Fidelity in 1992 and also currently manages Fidelity Real Estate Investment Portfolio, which he has managed since 1998. He also manages various institutional real estate accounts.

Fidelity Advisor Canada Fund seeks growth of capital over the long term and normally invests at least 80% of assets in securities of Canadian issuers and other investments that are economically tied to Canada. The fund may invest up to 35% of total assets in any industry that accounts for more than 20% of the Canadian market. The fund’s benchmark is the S&P/TSX Composite Index.2 Maxime Lemieux is the manager of Fidelity Advisor Canada Fund. He has managed Fidelity Canada Fund since November 2002. Since joining Fidelity in 1996, Lemieux has worked as a research analyst and manager. He also has managed a growth equity fund available exclusively to Canadian investors since 2000.

The fund’s benchmark is the Russell 2000 Index.3 Richard Thompson is manager of Fidelity Advisor Small Cap Independence Fund.
