He replaces Jan Carendi, president and CEO for the last 13 years, who has announced his retirement. Carendi will remain on board as chairman.

Dokken, an American Skandia employee since 1989, had been chief operating officer since March 2000 -- prior to that he had been president of American Skandia Marketing. He also serves on the company's executive management board.
